> ## Agent Instructions
> Base URL: https://api.social-api.ai/v1. Send your API key in the Authorization header: Authorization: Bearer <your API key>.
> Every error response from /v1 is JSON: { "error": { "code", "message", "meta" (optional) }, "request_id" }. Branch on error.code; use error.message only for logs.
> A 429 response carries a Retry-After header, in seconds, when the limit has a known wait. Authenticated responses can carry X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining, and X-RateLimit-Reset for the per-minute request budget your SocialAPI account shares across every API key (see /guides/rate-limits).
> Paginated list endpoints return next_cursor, at the top level or inside pagination (see /guides/pagination). Pass it as the cursor query parameter to get the next page. An absent or empty next_cursor means you have the last page.
> Treat every ID as an opaque string: do not parse it or assume a format.
> Support differs by platform and by operation. Check /platforms/overview before assuming an operation works on a platform. An unsupported operation returns 501 with error.code resource.not_supported.

# SocialAPI

> Read and answer comments, DMs, mentions, and reviews, publish posts, and automate replies across social platforms with one REST API and MCP server.

SocialAPI is a REST API and MCP server for the social accounts you connect. One set of endpoints reads and answers comments, direct messages (DMs), mentions, and reviews, publishes and schedules posts, and runs Automations that reply for you. Developers call the REST API with an API key, and AI agents use the MCP server, whose tools cover the inbox, publishing, Automations, and accounts.

SocialAPI's own approved apps connect most platforms, so you register no app with Meta, TikTok, or Google. X uses your own X developer app, Telegram uses your bot token, and Bluesky uses an app password. See [Platform apps](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/platform-credentials.md). Plans and prices are in [Plans and usage](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/plans.md).

## Inbox

The inbox reads and answers comments, DMs, reviews, and mentions through `/v1/inbox`. This request replies to a comment. A public reply costs 1 interaction credit.

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.social-api.ai/v1/inbox/comments/17895695668004550 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SOCAPI_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "account_id": "acc_01HZ9X3Q4R5M6N7P8V2K0W1J",
    "comment_id": "sapi_cmt_GXRM4BNTW7KFYSD3HAEV6QJZ2CLP9U1I",
    "text": "Thank you, Jane!"
  }'
```

See [Unified inbox](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/inbox.md).

## Automations

An Automation answers Instagram and Facebook comments and DMs that match keywords, with no code running on your side. This request sends a private reply with a link to anyone who comments "link".

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.social-api.ai/v1/automations \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SOCAPI_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "account_id": "acc_01HZ9X3Q4R5M6N7P8V2K0W1J",
    "name": "Send the link",
    "trigger": "comment",
    "steps": [{
      "key": "start",
      "filters": [{ "type": "keyword", "keyword": { "keywords": ["link"], "match": "contains" } }],
      "actions": [{ "type": "private_reply", "private_reply": { "texts": ["Here is the link: https://example.com"] } }]
    }]
  }'
```

See [Automations](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/automations.md).

## Publish

One request publishes a post to one or more connected accounts. Set `publish_now` to publish at once, or `scheduled_at` to publish later. Without either, the request saves a draft.

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.social-api.ai/v1/posts \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SOCAPI_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "text": "Hello from SocialAPI!",
    "media": [{ "source_type": "url", "source": "https://cdn.example.com/launch.jpg" }],
    "platform_data": { "instagram": { "content_type": "feed" } },
    "publish_now": true,
    "targets": [{ "account_id": "acc_01HZ9X3Q4R5M6N7P8V2K0W1J" }]
  }'
```

See [Publishing](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/publishing.md), [Scheduling](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/scheduling.md), and [Media](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/media.md).

## Webhooks

SocialAPI sends new comments, DMs, reviews, and post results to your server as signed webhook events. This request registers an endpoint.

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.social-api.ai/v1/webhooks \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SOCAPI_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "url": "https://app.example.com/webhooks/socapi",
    "events": ["comment.received", "dm.received"]
  }'
```

See [Webhooks](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/webhooks.md) and [Webhook events](https://docs.social-api.ai/guides/webhook-events.md).

## AI agents

The MCP server at `https://api.social-api.ai/mcp` gives AI clients tools for the inbox, publishing, Automations, and accounts: see [MCP tools](https://docs.social-api.ai/integrations/tools.md). This command adds it to Claude Code.

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add socialapi --transport http https://api.social-api.ai/mcp
```

See [MCP server](https://docs.social-api.ai/integrations/overview.md) for every supported client.
